January is Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month—a dedicated time to educate, support, and protect those who serve. In partnership with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), the IAFF recognizes this month as an essential opportunity to provide firefighters and departments with the tools, training, and guidance needed to reduce cancer risk and strengthen early-detection practices.

Throughout January, we highlight life-saving prevention protocols, share evidence-based resources, and uplift those battling cancer within our fire service community. From decontamination routines and PPE best practices to peer support and survivorship stories, this month is about taking proactive steps to protect the long-term health of every firefighter.

Together, we honor those impacted, improve safety for today’s crews, and build a healthier future for the fire service.
