Hi Everyone,
We are so glad you stopped by! We are the Peer support leaders of your department and we want to build a community of support for the firefighters in our houses. Let us give you a little more information about what all this is.
What is Peer Support?
Peer support is an effective tool for firefighters to help one another from everything from managing the everyday stress they experience on the job and their personal life to decompressing after traumatic calls. The inclusion of a peer support team in any health and wellness program is important and provides fire departments with internal resources. Peer support team members are trained to recognize needs and provide access to behavioral health assistance to members when they need it most. Your peer support team member is a trusted and trained firefighter who has real-life experience with the problems facing firefighters. Having a conversation with a team member may be all a firefighter needs, but they will also be able to direct the firefighter to trusted clinical care if needed.
What is the Peer Support Platform?
The peer support platform is a space for your peer support team members to stay connected with you while providing a place where you can access resources at your own pace. They have curated an assortment of Pobal courses on many of the common behavioral health areas firefighters struggle with. as well as lists of books, podcasts, articles, and many other excellent resources. You can take any of the self-assessments, learn more about an area you are interested in, find out what peer support events are happening soon and have a chat with your peer support team member all from the peer support platform.
We look forward to being a part of your wellness journey!
Regards,
